People talking together at a diner lunch counter

Join the Conversation

Social media can do a great deal of good. It can connect people across distance, create community, and open doors to encouragement, support, and shared life. It can also have its darker corners, places where conflict, noise, and confusion can too easily take over. Those places need light, but many of us also long for something quieter, kinder, and more grounded.

The Lunch Counter was created with that need in mind. Built in a familiar social format, with features similar to Facebook, including profiles, groups, pages, and newsfeeds, it offers a place to connect and participate without the strain and chaos that so often shape online spaces. Here, moderation and clear guardrails help create a safer and more enjoyable experience for everyone.

More than just another social platform, The Lunch Counter is meant to be a safe haven, a place where conversation, friendship, and community can grow in an atmosphere shaped by respect, encouragement, and the principles of the gospel.

Rules of the Road

Our community spaces are intended to be welcoming places for thoughtful conversation. We do not expect everyone to agree, but we do expect everyone to treat one another with respect.

  • Play nice. Disagree with ideas without attacking people.
  • Treat everyone with dignity. Personal insults, harassment, and slurs based on race, ethnicity, nationality, gender, sexual orientation, religion, disability, or other personal characteristics will not be tolerated.
  • No partisan politics. Please do not use these community spaces for partisan political discussion, campaigning, or electioneering.
  • No advertising or solicitation. Do not use the community primarily to promote products, services, organizations, fundraising, or repetitive self-promotion.
  • Stay reasonably close to the conversation. Groups and discussions work best when participants respect their purpose and topic.
  • Keep it civil. Abusive, threatening, obscene, or deliberately inflammatory material may be removed.
  • Respect privacy. Do not repost another member’s personal information or private comments elsewhere without permission.
  • Respect moderation. Moderators may edit or remove content, close discussions, move topics, restrict participation, or remove members when necessary to protect the community.

The purpose of moderation is not to prevent disagreement. It is to keep disagreement from destroying the conversation.
